Medieval buckle: double-oval
Description
English: A cast copper alloy double looped buckle, dating from circa 1350 - 1650AD. It is 35.2mm long, 27.8mm wide and 1.5mm thick. It weighs 5.57gm. The loops are elongated D shapes. The outer edge of the loops are swollen when compared to the central bar. The pin and plate are missing from the buckle, but there are traces of some iron corrosion. There are traces of a white metal coating. For comparison see BH-22B422 or Whitehead Buckles 1250-1800 pp.53
