Title
Medieval buckle: Single looped buckle
Description
English: A cast copper alloy single-looped buckle dating to the medieval period. The buckle is rouoghly D-shaped in plan and has a recessed strap or pin bar. The outer frame expands to be broadly triangular, with grooves and a central shallow recess for a pin rest. The pin is extant and is formed from a simple strip of copper alloy looped around the strap bar. The buckle and pin have the same patina which shows that both are contemporary. This style of buckle dates from c. AD 1250-1400.
