Title
Medieval buckle: Buckle fragment
Description
English: A worn and incomplete copper alloy buckle dating to the medieval period. The buckle is the type that has an integral plate; all that survives here is part of the buckle loop and part of the plate. The plate is gilded on the upper surface and has a hole through which the pin or possibly a rivet would have sat. The reverse is plain and undecorated. These types of buckles were in use throughout the high to late medieval period, c. AD 1250-1500.
