Title
Medieval brooch or buckle pin
Description
English: A copper-alloy pin from a brooch or buckle dating from the medieval period. It is 43.6mm in length, 8.1mm wide, and 3.7mm thick. It weighs 4.07gm. The pin is cast and is taller than it is wide. It has a raised collar on the top surface only, immediately before the loop which is broken. It probably dates from 1270 – 1400. It has a glossy green patina which has mainly flaked away. Similar examples can be seen in Dress Accessories by Egan and Pritchard on pages 115 and 116.
