Medieval brooch
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy medieval annular brooch, dating to AD 1200 - 1300. The brooch consists of a circular frame which is semi circular in cross section, about a quarter of the frame is now missing. The breaks are worn, at one of the breaks the frame has been bent out of place. Projecting upwards from the frame at each end are two bi-conical shaped collets, these contain a white adhesive which originally would have held a setting. There are six collets in total, spaced evenly round the frame. . It has a dark green patina, and measures 30.8mm in length, 25.5mm in width, and weighs 3.25g.
