Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy bar mount of medieval date (c.AD 1230-1260).

The mount consists of a central bar with a D-shaped cross-section. At either end of the bar is a raised lip that is followed on by a flat terminal in the broad shape of a trefoil. Each of these end lobes has the remains of an iron rivet placed in the centre to allow for attachment probably to a casket. The object is complete but is bent slightly at one end.
