Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A complete cast copper-alloy Medieval bar mount dating to AD 1250-1450.

The mount is formed of a central sub-oval body, from which two sub-circular terminal lobes extend. The main central body is hemispherical in section and concave on the reverse. The terminal lobes are hemispherical in section, and both are drilled and contain copper alloy rivets in-situ, which would have attached the mount to a strap. The upper surface of the central oval body is decorated with parallel incised lines. This artefact is worn and is a dark green colour with some calcified concretions present.

Similar to Egan and Pritchard (1991) 1160-1161, pp. 213-214. Similar examples can be found on the database under DOR-F716C7, PUBLIC-342490.

Measurements: Length: 18.47mm, width: 8.81mm, thickness: 4.65mm, weight: 1.08 g.
