Title
Medieval annular buckle
Description
English: A complete copper alloy medieval annular buckle, dating from c.1270-1400 AD. The frame of the buckle is circular, and oval in cross section. The frame seems to be decorated with a series of raised lines running across the width. The pin consists of a piece of copper alloy that's wrapped around one edge of the frame, and is triangular in shape. The pin is smaller than the width of the frame, and only crosses about a third of the frame. The buckle is very worn, and is a red brown colour with small patches of green patina. The frame measures 16.9mm in diameter and the pin measures 8.9mm in length. It weighs 0.73g. Similar examples can be seen in Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 60, Numbers 55,72, and 88.
