medieval annular brooch
Description
English: A complete copper alloy medieval annular brooch, dating to c. 13th -15th century AD. The brooch is lozenge shaped, with a knop at three of the corners. The inside of the brooch frame is bevelled, and is sub rectangular in cross section. The fourth corner is flattened, creating a bar for the pin. The bar is slightly recessed, and the copper alloy pin is wrapped round it. The pin consists of a sheet of copper alloy wihich narrows to a point. The brooch has a dark green patina, and measures 19.2mm in length, 21.6 mm in width, 3.0mm in thickness and weighs 1.83g.
