English: Medieval copper alloy animal-head spout from ewer, tubular with curved neck with elongated convex curve to fit against neck of vessel, spout emerges from open mouth of cast head with upturned snout, lozengiform eyes, vertical ears at side of head and remains of transversely-notched longitudinal ridge (?mane). Length at original angle 58mm. Width across ears 20.5mm. Weight 47.77g. Cf. EAA Occasional Paper 12, 12-13, fig.21, no.3 and Finds Research Group Datasheet 7, fig.8 A. 15th century. |
