English: Medieval Animal-head spout from a ewer, tubular, curved neck with curve at opening to fit against neck of vessel, spout emerges from open mouth of stylised cast head, flattened narrow snout and vertical rectangular ears against the sides of the head and projecting slightly above the top of the head. 65 x 64mm. Cf. Lewis (1987) fig.8a and a rather larger and more elaborate example from a moated site in Wimbotsham illustrated in EAA Occasional Paper 12, 12-3, fig.21, no.3. 15th century. |
