Medieval Single Loop Sub-rectangular Buckle
Description
English: A nearly complete Medieval cast copper alloy sub-rectangular single loop buckle and pin, c.AD 1250-1400. The buckle frame and strap bar are sub-rectangular in shape with a lobed knop on the corners of the front frame. There is also a larger moulded knop protruding from the centre of the front frame. The pin is sub-rectangular in section; at one end it is bent round the strap bar, and at the other is tapered and broken. The pin is 17.3mm in length. The strap bar is notched in the centre. The buckle is 27.1mm long, 19.5mm wide, 2.31mm tick and it weighs 3.1 grams.
