Title |
Medieval Single Loop Buckle |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy single loop buckle with expanded outer edges, c. 1350-1400 AD. The remains of the buckle consist of the buckle frame, which is sub-rectangular in plan with an expanded outer edge, holding a separately fashioned copper-alloy sheet roller. The strap bar on the other side of the buckle frame is narrowed and offset; there is a central notch in the strap bar which seems to be due to wear caused by the pin, now missing. Any further elements of the buckle, such as pin and buckle plate are now missing. Cf. Whitehead 2003, p. 27, No. 138. |
