Title
Medieval Purse Frame (back)
Description
English: Part of a copper alloy purse frame. The loop is missing but there is a long shank cast in one piece with the bar. Where the shank meets the bar there is a slightly thicker rectangular area with a concave underside. The shaft tapers at either end and is circular in section. At the widest central part there are two incised bands within which is a waisted section either side of a central biconical thicker part. The bar has short, faceted arms (one of which is missing) which bend downwards at their ends at 90 degrees from the horizontal bar. After 7mm the arm divides into two, flatter parallel arms with pierced terminals.
