Title
Medieval Bulla
Description
English: Papal bulla of Honorius III (1216-27), in fair condition. The obverse is best preserved with the legend HONO/RIVS/•PP•III• clearly visible, as well as most of the enclosing pelleting. The reverse is more damaged with a large scratch to the top, meaning only the initial 'SP' is now left. As with other bullae of Honorius III, the slightly curved edge of the die is visible in rounded edge to the reverse just beyond the pelleted border. Although the lead has a good patina, it is not crisp enough to reveal minor die flaws. Weight 48.525g; the obverse is sealed at 6° to the reverse.

This is the twelfth bulla of this pope to have been recorded from the Diocese of Norwich, making it one of the more common issues to be found.
