Title
Medieval Buckle Pin
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy buckle pin of Medieval date (c. 1270-c. 1400).

The pin has a shaft, sub-circular in cross-section, which tapers throughout its length from the loop towards the blunt rounded tip. The loop is open; the tip of the loop does not make contact with the underside of the shaft. On the top of the pin, between the loop and shaft, there is a small ridge.

The pin has a mid-green patina which has been lost in places due to superficial corrosion.

44.9 x 12.4 x 4.3mm. Weight: 4.09g.

Similar buckle pins from London have been published and dated c. 1270-1400 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 115-116, fig. 75, refs: 540-550).
