Title
Medieval Brooch
Description
English: Incomplete medieval gilt copper alloy disc brooch. On the slightly concave reverse a catchplate lies at the end of a strip which is riveted to the disc, and both are in a purplish surfaced alloy. Fixed between the two an incomplete strip in a green surfaced alloy would have been bent over to form the pin. On the gilt front an engraved cross pattée with the head of the rivet at its centre lies within a circle, and small triangles lie between its arms. This decoration is now rather worn. Diameter 19mm. Perhaps 12th century.

No. 7 on annotated map in file.
