Title
Medieval Annular brooch
Description
English: A medieval copper alloy annular brooch, dating to 1350-1400 AD. The brooch consists of a circular frame which is 3.2mm in width, and is circular in cross section. The frame is bevelled on the inside. There is a recess in hoop where the pin sits, this measures 3.3mm across. The pin is a piece of copper alloy looped round the pin recess in the frame, and narrows to a point. It is oval in cross section, and has a circular collar round the attachment edge. The pin is 28.4mm in length, and reaches across the frame. There is no decoration, and has a light green patina. The brooch is 28.0mm by 29.4mm, and weighs 6.37g. It is similar to one in Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 249, number 1307.
