Medieval : Vessel Sherd
Description
English: A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of Medieval date (AD 1200-1450). The sherd is a section of a broad handle with two longitudinally running raised ridges. The fabric of the sherd is a fine grey sandy ware Brandsby ware type. Both the interior and exterior surfaces retain a thin layer of pitted green glaze. There are small homogenous glistening inclusions present, most probably mica.
