Medieaval casket key fragment
Description
English: Medieval key; fragment of cast copper alloy casket key of probable 13th or 14th century date. The key has a flat, lozenge-shaped handle pierced with a circular hole. The shaft is thicker and of flat oval cross section. There is a small collar at the top of the shaft, where it joins the handle. The fragment is broken off approximately 10mm from the handle. Length 18.0mm, width 9.9mm, thickness 2.6mm, weight 1.28g.
