Notes | To Der Kaiser souvenir iron cross, WW1 During the early months of the war a series of similar 'iron crosses' were produced for fundraising and propaganda purposes. The crude iron cross was intended to parody the German iron cross decoration. Another example bears the message "Fur Kultur" and was sold in an envelope that proclaimed "The Kaiser's Ire on Cross For Kultur. No one need now lack this decoration. Given away for for nothing on the continent. Can likewise be obtained anywhere in England for A Trifle." references- a) http-www.debenhamfamilyhistory.org.uk-propagandaironcross.htm b) http-www.worthpoint.com-worthopedia-ww1-british-german-iron-cross-medal-426522709 | |||||||||||||||||||||||
