English: New Zealand Memorial Cross, WW2 Medal received by relatives of 10620 Sgt CN Growcott, 26 Battalion, 2NZEF. Memorial Cross attached to brooch bar with small silver chain; in original box with length of purple ribbon wound around box inner base; together with printed card from Prime Minister of NZ obverse- silver bath-type cross, (32mm wide) overlain by a plain cleft arm cross; royal cypher at centre- GVIR; on the upper arm is a King's crown, and a fern leaf at te ends of the other three arms; behind the cross is a laurel wreath reverse- engraved with name and rank of deceased ribbon- thin mauve silk ribbon engraved verso- 10620 - SJT. C.N. GROWCOTT markings- on reverse- R - STERLING

Notes Memorial Cross, WW2 Medal commemorating the death of 10620 Sergeant Charles Nye Growcott 10620, 15 Platoon, C Coy. 26th Infantry Battalion, 2NZEF. A married man with two young daughters, Charles Growcott left New Zealand on 27th August 1940. He was killed in action, Western Desert, aged 28 years, on 27th November 1941 and is buried at the Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma, Libya.
