English: Coronation Medal, George VI, 1937 Awarded to Group Captain Thomas Denton, NZPAF silver circular medal, 31mm diameter, ring suspension obverse- conjoined effigies of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, crowned and robed, facing left reverse- Royal Cypher GRI appears on the reverse, surmounted by a large crown, with the inscription CROWNED - 12 May 1937 below the Royal Cypher in two lines. Around the rim of the medal is the inscription- GEORGE VI QVEEN ELIZABETH ribbon- grosgrain ribbon, 34mm wide, garter-blue edged with a band of white, red, white.

Notes Coronation Medal, George VI, 1937 Group Captain Thomas Denton, NZPAF Military service WW1- Canterbury Mounted Rifles and then with the Royal Flying Corps post-WW1- served with the Canterbury Regiment and then with the New Zealand Permanent Air Force WW2- RNZAF. Note Thomas Denton was the only NZPAF recipient of the King's Medal for Champion Shot of the Military Forces
