English: New Zealand Medal (miniature), New Zealand Wars (1845-1847) (boxed) Belonged to Colonel Cyprian Bridge, 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment of Foot miniature silver medal; with ribbon; ornate brooch bar; in original cardboard box of issue obverse- diademed head of Queen Victoria with a veil covering the back of her head; around the head is the legend- VICTORIA - D - G - BRITT - REG - F - D reverse- at centre a laurel wreath; above and below are the words- NEW ZEALAND - VIRTUTIS HONOR (Honour of Valour) ribbon- dark blue with a red stripe down centre

Notes New Zealand Medal, New Zealand Wars (1845-1847) (miniature) Belonged to Colonel Cyprian Bridge, 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment of Foot Colonel Cyprian Bridge (1807-1885) arrived in New Zealand in 1845 as a Major serving with the 58th Regiment. He took part in the battles of Puketutu (May 1845), Ohaeawai (July 1845), Ruapekapeka (Jan. 1846), and the action at Kapotai Pa (1845). Promotions- Brevet Colonel in 1854; Colonel 25 October 1858. He left New Zealand with the 58th Regiment on 17 November 1858 and was appointed to command the Regiment, retiring from this post in November 1860.
