| Notes | New Zealand Medal 1861-1864, New Zealand Wars Medal awarded to Private John Martin, 2nd Waikato Regiment of Militia John Martin, born 1841 County Antrim, Ireland, was a member of No 4 Coy 2nd Waikato Regiment of Militia from 6-9-1863 to 30-12-1865. He signed up at the Shortland St. Depot-Barracks, in Auckland and at time of his enlistment was employed as a Porter and stablehand, Michael Williams' Hotel, Papakura. He also served with the Imperial Comissariat Transport Corps. His medal bears the dates 1861-1864 and has been engraved on one side- ORAKAU 1864. John Marton's medal claim also listed the action at Martins Farm Drury, 1863, and others. John Martin died on 8th August 1936, at the Veterans' Home in Auckland.
