English: New Zealand Medal, New Zealand Wars (1860-1872) Medal awarded to Private George Cooper, Mauku Volunteers (Mauku Rifles). circular silver medal; straight ornamental (fern fronds) swiveling suspender; with ribbon obverse- diademed head of Queen Victoria with a veil covering the back of her head; around the head is the legend- VICTORIA - D - G - BRITT - REG - F - D reverse- at centre a laurel wreath; above and below are the words- NEW ZEALAND - VIRTUTIS HONOR (Honour of Valour) ribbon- dark blue with a red stripe (10mm wide) down centre named on edge- G. COOPER. MAUKU VRS.
