English: British War Medal 1914-20, WW1 Awarded to 2675 Cpl Percy Edwin Calver, 7th Field Coy Engineers, AIF. circular silver medal; plain, straight non-swivelling suspender; with ribbon obverse- coinage head of King George V with the legend GEORGIUS V BRITT- OMN- REX ET IND- IMP- reverse- naked figure of St. George on horseback facing right. The horse is trampling on an eagle shield and cross bones symbolic of death; above the horse’s head is the sun, symbolic of victory. Around the edge are the dates, 1914 and 1918 ribbon- broad orange watered band down the centre, bordered with white, black and blue stripes named on edge- 2675 CPL. P.E. CALVER. 7 F.C.E. A.I.F.

Notes British War Medal 1914-20 , WW1 Awarded to 2675 Cpl Percy Edwin Calver, 7th Field Coy Engineers, AIF, WW1 Percy Calver enlisted with the Australian Field Engineers, on 6.9.1915 (30.8.1915) and embarked from Sydney on 22nd December 1915. He died of wounds on 12th November 1917, and was buried at the Etaples Military Cemetery. Originally from Auckland, at the time of his enlistment Percy was working in New South Wales as a carpenter and his father Frederick Calver was living in Gladstone Rd, Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. He later moved to Australia and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records that Percy was the "Son of Frederick George and Alice Calver, of 64, Miller St, North Sydney, New South Wales. Of Auckland, New Zealand."
