English: Meat Market Gateway The main entrance gateway to the old Edinburgh Meat Market in Fountainbridge (before its move to Gorgie in 1955) has been preserved and moved to a new location nearby where it will become a feature within a new building development. The market was created in 1850 to replace the Shambles in King's Stables Road and other smaller slaughter-houses around the West Port. |
