| Description |
English: Measured mile marker This beacon marks the more northerly end of the measured mile on the east coast of Arran. I was puzzled as to why my GPS position for this beacon did not match against the OS position for the upper mark. However, a look at the chart, spurred by memory of this coast, reveals that the northern mark has THREE beacons to line up, but for some reason the OS only show the lower two. With the coming of GPS I reckon use of this measured mile for speed trial is now probably superseded by GPS techniques. |
