Description
Nederlands: Oscillerende stoommachine: Machine met oscillerende (schommelende) cilinders. De cilinders zijn op twee punten verbonden met de rest en bewegen enigszins mee met de beweging van de zuigerstang. Het grote voordeel van deze machine was een relatief licht gewicht en geringe omvang waardoor het geschikt was voor schepen met een geringe diepgang. Deze machines werden tot 1910 veelvuldig gebruikt op raderboten. De machine op de foto is gebouwd in 1898 en heeft een vermogen van 92 kW of zo’n 125 paardenkracht. Het was oorspronkelijk geplaatst op de passagiersraderboot Fürst Bismarck. Gezien in het Museum der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt.
