| Description |
English: It is unclear if this cave is the one refrenced in the Franz/Slifer study. While less than 100 yards directly north of McMahon's Mill Cave #1 (Franz/Slifer's indicates northwest), this cave's layout does not resemble the map in the book. This photo was taken from a the sink's northern edge, looking towards the C&O Canal (approximately 150 yards away). Note the horizontal beds of Stones River Limestone below the entrance, much the same as can be seen at Cave #1 which can be found in a sink of similar size. |
