Description

Hunslet 0-4-0T 1684 of 1931. This locomotive worked for a number of firms, moving to Kilmersdon Colliery, Somerset in 1964. From there it ended up in preservation based at several heritage railways including the Swanage Railway gaining the name ‘Sad Sam’. In 2013 it is recorded based at the Middleton Railway, Leeds, Yorkshire.

For the 25th anniversary of the Great Dorset Steam Fair in September 1993 four heavy haulage traction engines travelled to Wool to transport 'Sad Sam' from the Swanage Railway to Tarrant Hinton.
