[edit]DescriptionMcGraws in the Mist (1131329493).jpg |
McGraw Hall's tower and the McGraw Clocktower pierce May mists (or was it fog?) at Cornell University, in sunny Ithaca, New York, USA :) ... as seen from the balcony of the Johnson Museum. The Johnson Museum, by the way, has one of the finest collections of art in New York State and was designed by I. M. Pei. McGraw Hall was home to my college major, Government. Its tower was first built to house the famed Cornell Chimes, themselves also a McGraw family gift. Later Cornell built the more distant Clocktower, again a McGraw family gift and the chimes' permanent home. It's already in the background here which fits neatly with the chronology, and it's also appropriate that everything beyond it is fully enshrouded by mist. More about Cornell, its towering ideals, and the towering figures who founded it. |
