of the Pennsylvania Inquirer, which sets forth,better than we could hope to do, the peculiaradvantages of applying to Mr. Maples for anyarticle in the line of his profession : i: There are few who have contributedmore to the improvement of Monumen-tal Architecture, in beauty of design,and skill of execution, than our fellowcitizen, Mr. Joseph Maples. To eluci-date this, we need only refer to theimposing and attractive appearance ofthe beautiful Tombs and Monumentswhich embellish hisyard, at the cornerof Broad and Arch Streets. We have v rarely, if ever, seen more classic tastedisplayed than is there exhibited inthe execution of a splendid Gothic S Tomb. In this style of architecture, :- Mr. Maples has but few equals in our untry, arising, doubtless, from his §^ long experience and well cultivated £ taste, as well here as in Europe, where *. he has extensivelv traveled for the g^^ sole purpose of acquiring as greatproficiency as possible in the Gothicand other styles of Architecture.
