Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Maximon is as important as the any of the saints honored by the Maya of Guatemala. He is lord of the underworld and has his own shrine in the home of a prominent medicine person, just like the saints each have their own. He is the only specifically Mayan diety represented in a shrine, as all of the others are Catholic saints.
