Biography British Performing & Recording Artists Date of Birth (DOB): 6/10/60 From: United Kindgdom Best Known for: Singer Songwriter Musician Carpenter Bio: Maxi Priest was born Max Elliott in Lewisham London in the early Sixties. One of 8 children from Hyacinth & Alfred Elliott. Maxi was was a carpenter by trade and made speaker boxes for the legendary UK Sound System, Saxon. He was also credited along with Barry Boom (Paul Robinson) for making Phillip Levi's monster hit "Mi God Mi King". He produced his version of "Some Guys Have All The Luck" with Sly & Robbie, which brought notoriety in the UK. "Wild World" another cover of a Cat Stevens song led to World-Wide airlplay and recognition. He led his own band, "Caution". Many in the Reggae biz feel that Maxi's best works was with his band. "Intentions", "Maxi" and "You're Safe" really do make a statement. Over the years, Maxi has worked with Sly & Robbie, Roberta Flack, Shaggy, Shabba Ranks, Joe & Dennis Brown. He's appeared on David Letterman, Arsenio Hall, MTV, BET and many other TV shows. In 1990 he hit number one on the Billboard Pop chart with his duet with Shabba Ranks title "House Call" |
