Summary
[edit]DescriptionMausoleum of Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah.jpg |
English: Widely regarded as the founder of Hyderabad and its architectural centerpiece, the Charminar, Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth and most prominent ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty took accession to the throne at a tender age of 15.
His tomb, which is undoubtedly the most-visited and admired tomb in the complex lies to the south of his daughter's tomb. It has a sarcophagi covered in a funeral pall, akin to the other tombs. However, a series of stairs lead to the Mausoleum proper, a dimly-lit, ribbed-vault enclosure surrounded by metal railing, at the center of which lies the actual sarcophagi, in all its glory, elevated to almost two-thirds of the height of the enclosure. Though he has lived a busy life, he now rests amidst the tombs of members of his beloved family including his dearest daughter, the most influential woman of medieval Deccan, Hayat Bakshi Begum a.k.a Ma Saheba. The photograph captures the entrance to his Mausoleum which lies above his Mausoleum proper.
