Summary

[edit]
Description
English: On February 6, 2023, Usha Chandnee Dwarka-Canabady, Permanent Representative of Mauritius to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, deposited the instruments of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement and the Madrid Protocol with WIPO Director General Daren Tang.

WIPO’s Hague System allows designers to secure protection of their designs in multiple jurisdictions through a single and cost-effective procedure. Mauritius becomes the 78th member of the Hague Union, bringing the total number of countries covered by the International Design System to 95.

WIPO’s Madrid System makes it possible for brand owners to register their trademarks in multiple countries by filing one single international application. With the accession of Mauritius, the Madrid System now covers 130 territories.

The Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement and the Madrid Protocol will enter into force for Mauritius on May 6, 2023.
