Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A skid row building once located at the Southeast corner of Yesler Way and 2nd Avenue South. It was built in 1890 by William H. Maud (also builder of the Maud Building on 1st Ave S) and Manuel S. Bittencourt (a Portugese-born businessman who ran a floating store on the Skokomish River in the 1880s) and was originally planned to be 3 stories tall. The Tyee Saloon was located at the corner in the 1900s, and the Triangle bar in the basement underneath. It was deemed non-historic and demolished in 2006 shortly after this photo was taken, to be replaced by the Quintessa low-income apartments.
