Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath. A view on the summit of Masson Hill boasting the path and a view of one of the cable car support columns at the side of Prospect Tower (a.k.a. Victoria Tower). Its more regal title stems from Princess Victoria's visit to Matlock Bath in 1832. Work on the 15 metre (50ft) high stone tower - that bears the words "Victoria Stand, 1844, I.P." - was begun in 1844 by John Pechell, the then owner of the site. The tower is 244 metres (or 800ft) above sea level and it was designed to provide views of the countryside, as well as to be seen from a distance.
