Description
English: Matira (Mathilde) Bambridge (1848–1918), daughter of Thomas Bambridge, a British settler, and Maraea O'Connor, daughter of an Irishman and a member of the raʻatira class. The Bambridge family had no ariʻi or royal descent in their lineage. The daughters of this prominent family were known for their beauty; her older sister Suzanne was a model of Paul Gauguin.
