Transcripción de la ficha: "El artista de Nueva Galicia partió de la concepción barroca de Rubens y su obra de 1635, conservada en la Antigua Pinacoteca de Múnich, que conoció gracias a la estampa del grabador P. Pontius.

Ángeles volanderos aprestan coronas para recibir a las victimas de Herodes, Para el cristianismo, la rosa, en palabras de Lucia Impelluso, abrera en el significado que tuvo en la Antigüedad: connotación fúnebre, Rosalía formaba parte de las ceremonias ligadas al culto de los muertos. Así, es emblema del tormento de los mártires. De inevitable caducidad, como vanitas, apaga la llama de la vida. En oposición al plano celeste, una madre de tristisima mirada cobija en el suelo a su hijo muerto, mientras un perro bebe la sangre de los inocentes." (Símbolo y Reino, 2023)
