DescriptionMassa Chiesa Madonna della Misericordia 05.JPG |
English: Italy, Tuscany, Massa, Largo Unità d’Italia. Our Lady of Mercy Church was built in 1629 upon request of Carlo I Cybo-Malaspina just outside the city walls. The church does not show the Baroque style of the time in which it was built. It has a central plan with octagonal perimeter and two lateral chapels; the architraves are partcularly worked. Inside is of some interest the decorative painting of 1800s by Bontemps and Ragghianti and the painting “Our Lady of the Snow” of 1600s by Domenico Fiasella. The porch is lovely and elegant in a classic style. |
