Description
English: Old Mosque of Kampung Olak Sepam, pagoh

According to the villagers, the mosque was built in 1931 on the site of the original mosue. In 1961 the mosque was extended, using brickwork and used 'massile' roof tiles, thus creating a unique architectural style, a combination of both local and western character.

In 1971, there was a big flood and the prayer hall was submerged under water. This led to the construction of a new mosque on a higher ground. Since then, the old mosque was left vacant and this led to further deterioration to the building.

Since the building has special architectural and historic interest, the Department of Museum and Antiquities has come forward to conserve this building and beome an important heritage building in the state of Johor. The restoration work was completed on 12th April 2003.

The opening ceremony of this Old Mosque of Kampung Olak Sepam, Pagoh after conservation is officiated by: Y.A.B Dato' Haji Abdul Ghani Bin Othman (D.K., S.M.J.) Chief Minister of Johor on 14th October 2003 - 18th Sya'ban 1424.
