Makers of such fraudulent remedies willbe vigorously prosecuted whenever the evidence warrants actionunder the Sherley amendment to the Food and Drugs Act. So-called remedies for infantile paralysis which are offered forimport into the country will be denied entry. The Food and Drug officials are particularly watchful in thisinstance, because it has been noted in the past that whenevera serious epidemic exists unscrupulous dealers prey upon thefear or ignorance of the public by flooding the market withworthless, hastily-prepared concoctions, for which they assertcurative properties which have no foundation whatever in fact.In the present instance inspectors already have discovered ship-ments of a few such mixtures.
