| Description |
An evening walk around Annapolis led to a few photos around these historic streets. Here I'm at state circle and a long exposure featuring the dome of the capitol building, the largest wooden dome in the US constructed without nails. Unfortunately for my photo, the building is under renovation and there is still a lot of scaffolding around the exterior walls. This building is the oldest US state capitol in continuous legislative use, dating back to 1772. It also served as the capitol of the United States for brief periods in the 1700's. Several historic events happened here in the early history of our country, including the ratification of the Treaty of Paris to end the American Revolutionary War and the official resignation of George Washington as commander-in-chief. |
