Description

BOWIE, MARYLAND
N I BLACK
This nut, like the Greenriver, is one of the
smaller of the northern varieties but one
of the very finest. The tree grows upright
and the foliage somewhat resembles the
hickory. The nut itself has some of that
fine, delicate hickory flavor and the kernels
come out in whole halves.
Posey
This is one of the largest of the northern
varieties, and is one of the best cracking
pecans grown in the United States. It is
possible to get out almost a hundred per
cent whole halves. The tree has beautiful
foliage, and is a rapid grower. This prom-
ises to become one of the best commercial
varieties.
Indiana
The Indiana tree grows a few hundred
yards from the Busseron and is probably a
seedling of it. The nuts resemble the
Busseron so closely they can hardly be
distinguished. This variety has been heav-
ily propagated and was one of the first
put on the market.
Busseron
Mason J. Niblack says the parent tree has
the best bearing^ record of any tree he
knows. The nut is large, thin-shelled and
of high quality. The young trees are rapid

growers and make long spreading branches.

Public domain

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
