Sold Liquor to Minor. Mary Conboy is Fined for Selling Liquor to Michael McQuinn. Mary Conboy of No. 883 Newark avenue, who sold beer to Michael McGuinn, thirteen years old, of Germania avenue, Sunday, was punished today. Justice Warner fined her $10 for the offense. When the fine was pronounced the Court noticed Mary's husband, James, in court an interested spectator. The Justice handed an officer a warrant that had been obtained in November, charging James with assault and battery and Conboy was arrested. He was too drunk to be examined and was locked up. The Justice a few moments later kept up his warfare on the Conboy gang by sending Edward Cullen of No. 23 Van Winkle street, who hangs out in that neighborhood to jail for ten days as a corner loafer.

Note

[edit]

During World War I, Germania Avenue was changed to Liberty Avenue.
