Description

Saint-Lazare | Place Jules Guesde In 1823, the Marquis de Montgrand, Mayor of Marseille, decided the erection of a triumphal arch to commemorate the campaign of Louis de France, Duc d’Angoulême, who had restored in Madrid the absolute power of the sovereign Bourbon Ferdinand VII of Spain.

The triumphal arch was inaugurated on May 1, 1837, in honor of King Louis-Philippe I.
