English: Marnoch cemetery The site of the ancient church of Marnoch, named after St Marnan the Celtic missionary from Ireland who settled nearby on the banks of the river Deveron.
The building in the old kirkyard is a complex of a watch house and underground mort house. They were built in 1832 to prevent the theft of corpses by body snatchers who supplied the anatomy schools in Aberdeen. |
